27.01.2017

The architectural bureau UNK project is the finalist of the open competition to develop architectural and artistic concepts of the metro stations "Sheremetyevskaya" and "Stromynka".

The first qualifying stage of the competition started on November 15, 2016. To apply for this stage, the teams had to offer their design ideas for each of the metro stations. The second stage implies detailed elaboration of the proposed solutions. Detailed elaboration on these proposals will last from February 2 to March 13, 2017. At its end the winner will be named.

The total number of teams registered for the contest is 477.  56 applications from Russia, Great Britain, Latvia, Italy, Armenia, Argentina, Portugal, Hungary and Germany met the requirements and were accepted for the competition.
The initiator of the competition is JSC "Mosinzhproekt" with the support of the Moscow Government and with the participation of Moscow's chief architect Sergei Kuznetsov. The contest operator is the Agency for Strategic Development "CENTER".

According to the chief architect of Moscow, Sergei Kuznetsov, in the capital they used to build both luxurious and costly stations as well as those that looked simple and did not cost too much. "Now we are looking for a compromise between these two approaches - we do not want to replicate monotonous, faceless solutions, but at the same time we cannot afford to build «underground palaces". Thanks to the contests we will manage to find a" golden mean ", - he stressed.
